Best-Dressed at The British Fashion Awards

The much-anticipated British Fashion Awards have finally concluded for another year – and now that all the excitement and angst is over, it’s time for fashionistas to kick back and dissect all the event’s high points and hottest looks.

As always, the British Fashion Awards saw the biggest and brightest stars gather to celebrate the country’s most outstanding contributions to the world of style. The evening’s biggest winner was undoubtedly the talented Stella McCartney, who was awarded two prestigious titles – namely Designer of the Year and Designer brand of the Year. Ms McCartney looked suitably polished and elegant in an ensemble she designed herself – a sleek black jumpsuit embellished with crystal side panelling.

With so many gorgeous and stylish ensembles on show at the BFA’s, it’s hard to say who was the best-dressed. However, there are a few particularly glam fashionistas that stood out from the crowd this year:

Rita Ora in Vivienne Westwood

Sultry songbird Rita Ora showed off her curves on the red carpet in a corseted fishtail gown – this gorgeous aquamarine number was designed by homegrown British fashion legend and punk-rock icon Dame Vivienne Westwood.

Cara Delevigne in Burberry

The beautiful Cara Delevigne won the title of Model of the Year for 2012, and certainly looked the part. The 20-year-old strutted her stuff at the British Fashion Awards in a green metallic mini-dress by Burberry; she paired the daring little number with silver peep-toe heels and topped off the look with a head of natural-looking tousled tresses.

The choice to wear Burberry is fitting, considering this is the brand that launched the model’s career back in 2010; since then she has gone on to work for Chanel, Zara and Victoria’s Secret. She was praised at the BFAs for her “unique sense of style and flair in front of the camera”.

Alexa Chung in Simone Rocha

This is the third time in a row Alexa Chung has scooped the coveted British Style Award, and it’s not hard to see why. This year alone, this fab and fashionable lady has started work on a style book, inspired a new collection from TopShop and even appeared in a cameo role on the hit TV series Gossip Girl. To accept her award (presented by celebrated designer Valentino), Alexa Chung wore a gorgeous little black number – an embroidered design by Simone Rocha. The elegant dress was perfectly complimented by a pair of embroidered ankle boots.

With the annual British Fashion Awards behind us and 2012 drawing to a close, it’s time to start planning those Christmas party outfits, and making style resolutions for the year to come!
