Big City style for the young generation

If you fancy getting an urban education this summer head to the streets and just look around you. This is the place where fashion influences style and trendsetters influence the fashionistas. Street style is where the big ideas are coming from and has created a worldwide phenomenon when it comes to catwalk fashion, with fashion bloggers out and about looking for more and more creativity and personality.  So whatever you do think BIG, wear it loud and with as much edge as possible and the secret ingredient is you. It’s definitely all about individuality and bags of personality, moving away from the homogenous high street and towards a truly individual style.

Here are two different ways to wear the look this season.

Urban loud and proud

Bold colours, slogan T’s and sweat tops, graffiti joggers, cropped tops and love worn jeans. Sneakers and decks for a little tomboy/school kid nostalgia and an American style varsity top to complete the look. Mix and match everything, big shapes with skinny silhouettes, and graphic prints with painted messages. Keep it sharp, not too tidy but with lots of attitude.  Think 1980’s rockstars (Blondie) combined with sports luxe fashion and a little bit of worldwide technology messaging.

Heritage street style

Preppy and authentic this look mixes good old-fashioned heritage style with today’s neat cuts and modern finishes. Plenty of old school influences, hence the popularity of the chino, skinny fit, rolled up or short and in a rainbow of colours from the traditional mustard hues to pastels and pop brights.  Add cotton shirts with slim line knits, a quirky pair of specs and a woven leather belt and you are ready for an afternoon lazing in the park. Short flirty floral dresses add a girly touch, keep the slim knits or opt for a casual blazer style. Roll up your sleeves and find a trilby straw hat for a bit of retro cool.  Brogues are a must and work with jeans, chinos and skirts, they are fast becoming a staple in the footwear stakes.  Styles can be updated with coloured laces and slimmer profiles to give them more standout style.

So find your free spirit and get set for the sunshine hitting the streets, get out into the city and paint it any colour you fancy just do it with a lot of confidence and even more flair.
