Behind The Scenes Of Bella’s Wedding Dress From ‘Breaking Dawn: Part I’

High school sweethearts. That’s what Bella Swan and Edward Cullen quickly became in the Twilight saga written by Stephenie Meyer. The movie adaptations, starting in 2008, brought Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson together for what would shortly become a series of box office hits. The latest adaptation, Breaking Dawn Part 1, was released November of 2011. The film was released on DVD in 2012 and on June 3 won Movie Of The Year at the 2012 MTV Movie Awards.

One of the pivotal scenes in the movie depicts the marriage of Bella Swan and Edward Cullen. For the wedding, actress Kristen Stewart sported a wedding dress designed by none other than Carolina Herrera.

When asked in an interview during the LA black carpet premier of Breaking Dawn Part 1 how designing a wedding dress for a character is different from designing a wedding dress for an actual person, Carolina Herrera explains that there is no difference. She says that it’s just the same, because “…brides are always the same, everywhere” which is why they decided to keep the design of the wedding dress “top secret.”

It was requested by Stephenie Meyer that pictures of the dress not be circulated around the media.

The Wedding Dress Of Bella Swan Is To Die For

Stephenie Meyer and Breaking Dawn director Bill Condon were faced with the difficult decision of selecting just one sketch out of the ten submitted by Carolina Herrera for Bella Swan. Upon selection, the wedding dress was custom-made to fit actress Kristen Stewart, complimenting her curves.

The white wedding dress was made by combining crepe satin and French Chantilly lace to create a look of elegance and determination. The back of the dress sported a sheer panel with scrolled embroidery and a grand total of 152 white buttons from the neckline right down to the hem.

The gorgeous $35,000 gown of Bella Swan took a total of six months for Carolina Herrera and four other seamstresses to complete.

In the past, it’s been mentioned that Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson had a secretly held wedding in England. This, however, is a lie. The two have never been married, but something is definitely in the making. Sources say Kristen wants to settle down soon, and though the two haven’t done anything other than the Twilight saga on screen together, Rob and Kristen do seem to spend an awful lot of time together.
