Quick & Easy Fashion For The Busy Mummy

Being a parent is hard work, especially if you are new to the job and for new mothers in particular it can be hard to find any me time. Being a parent is wonderful of course, but sometimes it is nice to be able to give back a little to yourself and boost your spirits.

This post is for every mother out there who just doesn’t seem to have time for herself. If that sounds like you, please take a minute to read these quick tips about fashion for full time moms:

Simple but effective

For young free and single types fashion is an ever changing, dynamic sort of thing. But as a mum you don’t really have the time (or money) to spend every weekend shopping for clothes.

Don’t fall into the trap of ephemeral fashions; instead stick with simple styles that always work and look great from one season to the next.

Clothes shop online

This isn’t exactly a revelation, but if you don’t have the time to be spending a day in town the internet really is your friend. For the power pc user a great idea is to pick a number of online stores which carry clothes you like and sign up to their newsletters.

This way, you will be notified whenever there is a sale, a few minutes on the computer and you can pick up some cheap clothes to buy and try.

Best still, rather than umming and ahhing for ages, just buy everything you fancy, try it on at home in your own time and return what you like least. (Hint: Keeping the lot is not good for your wallet!)

Sorting out your hair

Keeping your hair in good condition, cared for and styled is perhaps the toughest part, but this is where it really pays to have the right cut. When you get your hair styled remember that a low maintenance cut will look better on those days when you just don’t have time.

Why not try having a short practical style that looks great for day to day and invest in some high quality hair extensions for that lush long hair look when you are off on a night out?

Make up

Makeup is another of those things that it’s hard to find time for, but there are a few ways you can keep up without it taking forever.

Firstly, remember that minimalist makeup looks best for day to day anyway. Consider time savers such as a tinted moisturizer instead of foundation. Carrying colored lip gloss rather than lipstick kills two birds with one stone and buying quality nail paint that doesn’t need reapplying is a good idea too.

Accessories

To avoid feeling like you are wearing the same styles day in day out, accessories are your friend. Scarves, shawls and wraps are all fantastic for transforming an outfit and adding some variety with not much effort.

When you do shop, consider what accessories will work with your outfit and how practical they are.

And Finally…

Make sure you take the time regularly to sort out your clothes, get rid of items you no longer wear and keep your favorites close to hand. Investing the time to do this every so often will make picking out a nice outfit that much easier each morning.
