Getting Started

The first thing that you will want to do when you are making your own nurse’s costume is to figure out what kind of nurse you are going to be. Are you going to be a modern nurse and wear scrubs or would you rather be a traditional nurse and wear the white ensemble? If you are going to wear the white ensemble, you will have so much fun making a costume. The first thing you will need is a white button down polo shirt. It should be plain and have no design on it. Next, you will want to be sure that you have a white skirt to tuck your shirt into.

Be sure to have white shoes to wear with your outfit. You will also want to be sure that you have either red duct tape or a red fabric marker so that you can make your outfit more nurse like. Get a picture of a nurse’s costume for reference if you want to. Start out by making a red cross on the left chest of the shirt. You can also place one on the back if you want to. You can place one on the skirt as well. You will make the crosses either with the tape or the fabric marker. You do not need any on the shoes.

Accessorizing

Now that you have your outfit all sorted out, you will want to get your accessories in order. You can take a plain white headband and deck it out. Take a piece of paper and fold it in half. Using scissors, cut the paper into the shape you want and put a big red cross on it. You can then attach it to the headband. Finally, be sure you have a nice, white bag and use the duct tape to make a cross on that as well.
