A jacket that ends at the hips will look odd from behind because the skirt is so long in back. Long sleeves negate the whole point of wearing such a delicate dress. Dresses with high-low hemlines make the legs look long, and this effect can be accentuated by wearing nude heels.

Bodycon dresses came back into vogue as part of the natural response to the grunge fashion revival. They are form-fitting and usually very short. The good news is that they are usually made out of fabrics that are covered in busy, bright patterns that help to disguise any figure flaws. One does not have to have a perfect figure to wear a bodycon dress. Wild hair, chunky jewelry and fun shoes can create a fun effect that keeps other people from noticing imperfections.

Open-Back Dresses

Perhaps the oddest trend to hit mass retailers recently has been dresses with open backs. Sometimes there are bands or bows stretched across the backs to keep the dresses on, but they are not arranged in ways that will cover bra straps. This is an odd trend because as good as the open backs look from behind, the dresses are usually made out of materials that are thin enough to make wearing bras necessary. The only way to work around this problem is to accept that the bra is going to show no matter what. Wearing a normal bra and then covering it with a neon bandeau top turns a potential faux pas into a conscious fashion decision.

Wrap dresses are versatile and comfortable. Women have been purchasing them in droves ever since designers and retailers first presented them in their fall collections.
